Well IMO a short boot with a short chrome shifter and white ivory knob would look killer.. but thats just what I think.

I was just thinking..... would it be a stupid idea to get a twm sts and the hurst shifter and like and cut them both and weld the hurst onto the twm?

no the reverse lock out is not mandatory, its something put in by gm, so the people who think these are 6 spd. dont ram it into reverse at 75mph. smart on gms part but not a state mandated piece.

why would you want to do that? your gonna spend the money to buy both and them chop em up lol, just makes more sense to keep your money.

if thats what you want to do its deffinitly an idea. one big issue is most of the hurst handles are steel were most aftermarket shifters are aluminum. what you could do is get a stock shifter, cut the top off and weld on a hurst handle, however that alone wont make it a short throw. what you do then is cut the peice off the bottom and add a small peice in, probly 1/2" at most. this will change the were the fulcrum is and make it a short throw.

actually i can get just the shifter stem for $57 and the ball for 20 all i gotta do is chop off the stock stem, and weld the hurst one on. seems pretty simple.

ghetto photoshop:
