F23 rattle at idle

since my tranny was replaced, i notice there is a pronounced rattling coming from the tranny area when i am idling and the clutch is not pressed in. if i push in the clutch, rattle stops. let out clutch, rattle comes back. i dont notice any major driveablilty issues but its hard to tell since these trannys are such pieces of ****.
any ideas?

clutch engagement is high and has firm pedal, as do most of the ecotecs i have driven. im hoping this is a somewhat normal thing. any thoughts on using synchromesh in these trannys?
