Tell your friend to put his money where his mouth is, and race him, or I'll do it for you. Friends who talk smack about cars need to get a life. If your friends can't respect your car like you respect theirs, go find some new friends. This kid is a loser.

i wanted to start with some tranny mounts (front/rear) and he was saying that the popular rotated mounts everyone seems to get cause a crapload of additional stress on tranny and clutch, but spare the axles. he was also saying that anything around 300whp/340-350 wtrq will soon wreck clutch, trans and axles!!! i'm like WTF??? what??????

he doesnt even have a balt (his cuz has one) and he has had nothing but probs (according to him) and wants to trade in for a genesis or speed3 or even a new v6 stang. idk, sounds depressing, hope these assuptions arent all true. some feedback would lift me a bit. good to be here on this forum though. i'm sick of hearing his rants.....
here's a post made in another thread about stock turbo hp limits.
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/5363421-post3.html

Tell your friend to go suck an egg and you arent friends anymore but officially rivals that will race for money at the track every weekend till he cant afford it anymore.

It appears that with a stock turbo, bolt ons, and a tune spending no more than $2000 altogether will net you ~350whp and ~400trq. Thats pretty decent yes?

ha-ha!

The only remotely stock Civic Si that's going to keep up (probably a drivers race depending on tune) is a late model car with a supercharger;
I am still stock, and there is a local '09 Si with a really loud supercharger, unlike most of the ricers, he seemed cool and didn't seem to be BSing me;
He told me he had a "bolt on" supercharger kit installed on his car and he was supposed to be running about 300whp - which based on his e/t's is probably correct;
I raced him three times and lost all three - he only had a couple mph on me going through the traps.

I could give you recommendations, or just tell you what I eventually plan on doing;
I'm going the latter route;
I plan on:
  • Stage 1
  • Modern Performance (catted??) downpipe
  • Modern Performance catback
  • Over The Top Performance rotated mounts - I've chosen these ones because the others are polyurethane, and I would prefer rubber so that they actually absorb some vibrations ect.
  • tune on top of stage1

But even then, I'm in no rush to do that stuff;
Most have scoffed at me for buying the stage1 (I bought it about a month after buying the car, but it has sat in it's box in my basement mostly because I've enjoyed my car as-is for time being) - when an aftermarket tune pretty much makes the whole stage kit seemingly obsolete;
the deal with the stage 1 is the sensors can better monitor boost levels - aftermarket tunes generally push the limits of the stock sensors, so by using the Stage1 sensors, you're (in theory) creating a safety margin...

I hope I've helped some!

but i'll let him know though how many cobalt ss members are interested not only in me posting a race vid but also in bangin his whole family.... lol

oh, i took a look at my plugs and they look a bit beat, puttin oe replacements in, should i anti seize those bitches??
Always anti-sieze spark plugs.

So not use too much, just a slight coating on the threads of each plug.

And of course properly torque each plug to spec, which is 15ft/lbs on the LNF engine. If you don't torque them properly, you can pop a plug out of the head, ruining the threads in the head. Cylinder pressures are high in a boosted engine, which is why proper torque is critical.
