Help with "Reduced Engine Power Message"

Hello,
My son has a 06 Cobalt LT, 2.2 Engine that will not start and shows a "Reduced Engine Power" Message. The following problem codes have been found: P0601 and C0242. The Chiltons manual refers to P0601 as Transmission Control Module Read Only memory and Control Module Read Only memory. The C0242 was not given in the Chiltons manual but found on web as Powertrain Control Module Indicated Traction Control. Can anyone shed some light on what's going on.

Thanks

Pete

Sounds to me your tcm is not properly communicating with your ecm. So either look for a grounded wire, a bad control module and ect.
