transmission

ok i was working on the fuse box under my hood of my 08. when another guy arc my tcm with post on the fuse box. now my tran wont shift out first gear and my speed om dont work and power steering dont work. i was told i needed a new tcm. i got a used one for a 06. switched em out and still dont work. do i need to just have it reprogramed?

AFAIK you will need to get the "new" tcm flashed by a dealer.


And, WTF were you thinking working on the fuse box (or anything on the electrical system) without disconnecting the battery???????
Hope it was only the tcm you fried..............

Yeah you need to flash the vin to your tcm as long as the tcm is suitable to your car. !!

I know with the BCM you have to match old part number to new part number otherwise they won't be compatible with the car.

With the tcm it needs to be the same.

Going to need more than a TCM if power steering is inoperative....
