hurst shifter problems
i installed a hurst shifter on my car, and i feel like it shifts like ****, i mean the shifter feels like its precise and all but i feel like i need to use a bit extra force to move the shifter. I lubricated it and everything and i double checked everything and all looks good? do i have to wait a few days for the shifter to "break in"? because all of the other shifters i have installed have felt stiff for a few days after the isntall, then seem like they loosen up a few days later

You need to move the white plastic clip things until you get it right.

The clip on the linkage. unclip it move the shifter over to the pass side a bit and clip it back on. I had one of those shifters and it was a piece of **** . I couldn't wait to take it out of the car. It made 3rd gear knochy, and for reverse I had to sand the lock out gate down to make it work smooth.
Hurst droped the ball on this thing.

I don't care what any of you say. I think the hurst shifter is a POS. 3rd gear is not lined up correctly once you move the cable to make 5th and r work properly.

I just installed my B&M last night, I'm liking it so far. Getting ready to leave for the track now. Gonna see if I need to fine tune it at all there.

The Hurst is no worse than the B&M. I had the B&M before the Hurst came out.
If I did'nt f'up my stock shift knob I would still be using the stocker. For the money
niether one is really worth it IMO.

I just helped curtis (firestorm) adjust his hurst, took 3 minutes to have it feeling exactly like stock shift points.
just like mine.
sorry guys, you can blame the part all you want, but if you dont install it properly, its not going to work.
spend some time adjusting the cables properly.

nah not you. but theres quite a few people who rip on the hurst shifter because they didnt install it right.
what you do, is move the shifter left to right, once you see which cable is controlling that motion....put it back in the neutral position and unclip the white clip from that cable
now move the shifter SLIGHTLY to the left, and reclip it.
see how that works.
from there its rinse/repeat until you find that sweetspot where all the gears feel like butter
