Ingalls torque brace WORKS !!

Got my TB installed . It was VERY easy and only took like 20 min max to put on . Took the first test spin with it set at the factory 14mm setting . There , it got rid of about 70 % of the wheelhop , and the hop that was there was alot less violent . Then , I tightened it up a bit to 12.5 mm ( you can only go to 10 ) , and that was the magic ticket . I launched on the street purpously meaning to blow off the tires , and spin they did with absolutely no wheel hop AT ALL ! What nice feeling . It did cause some vibration in the car , mainly at idle . But , imo ....its not bad at all and infact actually welcome . It no longer feels like Im driving a video game disconnected from everything .

No track time with it yet , so we'll have to see there . Ive been waiting on my fidenza flywheel for 3 weeks now so I can put my clutch in

Great product that does what is says

^^^ No , you dont have to support the car or the engine . The studs on the chassis mount held it in place , it didnt move an ounce when I took the bolts off . Also , on the mount thats attached to the engine block , there are 3 bolts , you only remove the outer 2 . No movement at all either with the outer 2 bolts out . Also , you only do 1 side at a time , dont take the chassis bolts and the engine bolts all out at the same time . No clearence issues at all anywhere .

This thread talks about what not to do...IMPORTANT!!!! READ THIS!!!!

BTW YOU WANT IT INSTALLED ON THE BRACKETS IN THIS SEQUENCE!!!!

bolt head> rod end>rubber o ring >bracket>nut

if you have it out of sequence you get metallic sounds and potentially harm the damper internals or brackets..

I tried my Ingalls, and it worked out great tonight. I got a good launch and rolled into a smokey tire burnout without wheelhop. I went to race a new GTO from a dig, and well I got smokey tires again followed by a smokey clutch when I shifted to second. My clutch is gone now, so TurboTech you will have an order coming tomorrow.

it kicks ass, i have it installed now, great traction. I accelerated at WOT through a turn with just spin no hopping whatsoever. This is on the stock setting. To tighten it do you just tighten the Adjusting Plunger then tighten the Jam Nut on it?

I just noticed something in your picture of the brace installed. You did something wrong.

You know the ribs on top of the stock mount? Well the bracket for the brace is supposed to be on the inside of the rib, yours is on the outside. When I first installed mine I did the same as you. I looked at it and knew something wasn't right so I loosened it and fixed it. You should look into this and make sure you fix it. The bracket sits on a weird angle like that and I wouldn't want you to bend anything.

Edit: Hrmmm, Looking at it again it looks like yours doesn't have the ribs on the top of the mount. Oh well, for anyone else doing the install, make sure you didn't screw it up like I did, haha.

I don't think so. Just the 2.0L

Have a look at your mount and see if it looks the same as the mount on the 2.0L. If it is the same then it should work.

if it works for the 2.4 it should work for the 2.2.

I might pick one up also

Last we heard Ingalls was looking for testers for the 2.2 and 2.4 which should be the same design. Soon, I would give it a couple months before anything would be shipping for that application.

I have a stupid question, I hope you understand what Im asking. When the dampener is installed, is it supposed to have a little bit of rotational ability because of the swivle where the bolt goes thru the dampener?

In simpler form with it installed and u grab the dampener is it supposed to be able to twist and turn a little (due to the swivle?)

Does the mount eliminate that annoying "thud" when you shift into 2nd? I don't get hardly any wheel hop w/ the bushings and engine mount...but I get that nasty "thud" still.

Went to the track today with the mount.

2 passes I experenced a little bit of wheel hop, but nothing like before. 1st gear only on the first few passes...second gear no hop at all.

Track sucked....I spin more at the track then I do on the street.

Then again I'm still using the stock 18rims and tires....60ft times were a eyesore 2.6-2.7's. I got a 2.4 once, but the track prep sucked. I need to get a set of rims/slicks to do anything with the power. The stock tires just light up and spin...spin...spin.....

Looks like I have to get the control arm bushings to compliment the engine dampner. I would say.. the dampner took care of 90% of the wheel hop on the hardest setting. On the street, I don't have any wheel hop, but at the track my first few passes had some.

The shifting is great with the mount.
