Linkage Roll pin

Linkage roll pin, anyone got a write up and/or pics they can help me out with? I'm just gonna put a nut and bolt in it like I've read already but I want to know what size nut/bolt to get and it would help if I had some kind of write up to go off of and maybe some pics.

thanks,
rally

Thumbs up Roll Pin removal

HERE WE GO! I dont know how to upload pictures here so I will put them in the gallery under members photos, Qwikredline, or PM me..

My idea to use a Grade 8 aircraft bolt is FORGET IT a dumb idea, there is not enough room between the shift levers for a nut. It has to be a roll pin. this is a 20 thousands roll pin about 1.1 inches long. To get it out, you need do yourself a favour and remove the fuse box assembly (disconnect battery) and jack it up (jack stands) and remove the driver side wheel and the wheel fender plastic housing to get at it.

Use a 3/16th roll pin punch out of a Snap On PPR708K roll pin punch set with a hammer. This rollpin punch tool has a centering piece and will help you drive out the roll pin with a hammer. Hard to swing the hammer with the transmission in the car. Yours is broken, so it will be more difficult. THIS JOB IS A FINICKY PAIN IN THE BUTT. Using the correct tool will really help you. I will send you new roll pins you need harder ones than you can buy in a hardware store.

Clean up the parts and then drive in the new roll pin with the same tool, it will fit flush to the edges of the shift lever. If you need new shift levers let me know I have a bunch lying around here. Good luck with the self help, awesome strip times under 14 second 1/4 with a stock car...

Roll pins are a pain in the ass. You can throw a nut and bolt in there if you like but you won;t find one taht will fit perfectly so will will have some "play" in your shifter.
Go to the hardware store and get yourself a tension pin. I gotta double check on the size for you. Just tap it in with something hard that you can fit down there. (A hammer won't)

To get the old one out: It is a pain in the ass. Do what every you can. I used a nail to tap it through some of the way then a mini vice grip to pull it out the rest of the way.

To get down to the roll pin you gotta take out a bunch of stuff.
intake elbow
fusebox
push other various crap out of the way.

if you are interested in more detailed instructions shoot me a pm if you want.
