LSJ TRANS w/ LNF LSD?

Whats up everyone, I'm picking up a LSJ trans for my car without an LSD, now I have a LNf, would I be able to take the LSD from my LNf trans and put it in the 4.05 LSJ tranny?

Thanks!

Yes The trans are identical except for the ring and pinion.

i'd try to find an lsj LSD if you are going to swap it. the lsj has a 4.05 ratio where the lnf diff as a 3.82 ratio. higher gearing = more power to ground.

So the LNf LSD would go in no problem?

Turbos like longer gearing. Plus LSJ trans is weaker in some spots.

As previously stated, Yes.

Only major difference between the two F35's is (MC2)3.82:1 final and (MU3)4.05:1 final

exactly root beer is right. The quaifes are the same all years. The gears and bearings are the same all years, F35. Only the case changed, 2004 Redline to all other years.

and btw why is this myth that turbo's like taller gearing still persisting. Its bs, the 1320 likes short gears period dont matter what u got. Do you think maybe ZZP figured this out? Like we be running 4.45 gears since 2004 because....wait for it, elapsed time is faster, no matter u r drag racing or road racing.

Shorter gears mean less stress on the transmission.

Hmm okay I'll see how much labor would be to swap LSD's!

requires complete dissasemble. remove rear cover, main case etc. requires at least one new diff bearing as needs to be removed to install on cwp unless u swap main shaft and all gears

You would be better off finding an LSD lsj transmission. Labor on these transmissions aren't cheap and many get damaged when being torn apart.

crazy we do them all day long very easy. If he keeps the 4.05 ratio its a straight lift off set down mainshaft gear swap with no need to take out diff. But he wants the lsd so it gets more involved and requires bearings. And thats the problem the issue is not doing it; the issue is finding parts, the cluster gear step outer race bearing is on total backorder and costs over 200 but you cant get it... the whole parts deal with these transmissions is redonkulous. Timken make the bearings but they are restricted, cant be sold - read GM only.
the diff bearings however are easily obtained.
such a pita.

600 plus parts here (out of car) parts are a problem

I think you just answered a question that's been rolling around in my head for a while (namely, when getting clutch done, doesn't it make sense to install LSD at that time).

But it sounds like it's easier and less retard-mobile to just get an LNF LSD tranny and put it in...so does it still make sense to do it at clutch swap time?

Yessir! swap trans when doing clutch. gotta come all the way out to change clutch and the longest part is taking the trans off the trans hoist and swapping it for the new lsd trans.
