new brand of clutch coming in june :)

ACT is in the process of developing a clutch kit for the f35 tranny, hopefully these will be like the rest of their kits and they will sell a stronger pressure plate to work with the stock disk.. anyways, here the email i got back today:

Sam,

Thank you for your email and interest in ACT products. Unfortunately we currently do not offer anything for your application, though we are working on one. I just spoke to my R&D department and they informed me that we should have kits available by the end of June for the 05-06 Cobalt SS models. Pricing has yet to be determined and will not be until we get into the final stages of design. If you have any further inquiries please feel free to contact me directly.

Regards, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Cheap for hondas that is....

Compare them to the price of the STI/EVO kits as the SS/SC clutch is more complex than a Honda Clutch....

However, their clutch kits are VERY good... We will be keeping an eye on the update with ACT

I would say $700 for a ACT for the Cobalt is a good area to get. I am sure they will be at that price or a bit cheaper

What do you mean eff that? The exedy kit comes with a billet pressure plate, nice 6 puck sprung disk, and a light cromoly flywheel for around $1100 shipped! That sounds like a ******* deal to me! Tell me how many other clutches for the SS even come with a billet pressure plate or remotely compare to it's quality. On top of that what clutch is the only one I've never heard a failure on for the SS's? Exedy, and that's it! Thus, the reason I own one as well.

ACT does make great stuff though, so I hope it works out well for them!

hopefully they will offer an upgraded pressure plate only, those things are kick ass and cheap. should be less than $300 for a PP, about 35% more clamp load on a stock disk and it should hold about 250tq. the majority of people will never go above that and the stock disk will keep the chatter away

It's a good kit don't get me wrong, but hella expensive if you ask me.

It's not expensive if you look at what you get. Spec clutch alone is $500-$700 for the ss/sc, add a flywheel for $400 and pressure plate $xxx and you're above $1100 for the exedy clucth kit with everything, not just the clutch

the clutch disk and pressure plate are part of the $500 cost. add in $275 for a flywheel and you have a clutch/flywheel for almost $400 less than an exedy

Jason,

Thank you for getting back in touch with us in regards to this vehicle. I just spoke to our R&D department and they notified me that we should have this kit available by early May. I will have pricing and its torque specifications available upon release of this set up. Please check back in with us at this time for pricing and availability. Thanks again for your support of ACT products.
