no power shifting...

i was driving my cobalt the other night and i was about mid-way through 1st and stepped on it, she gripped good the rest of the way through first. i power shifted into 2nd and it redlined and i didnt go anywhere. the clutch doesnt slip any other time except while trying to power shift. any ideas or suggestions as to why? has anyone else had this problem? if its the clutch going bad, suggestions for a new clutch setup then? and also, should i look into getting a new flywheel as well?

14 people have viewed n no one has suggestions? someone has to have had this happen to them out of all the cobalts on here, n i know people have replaced their clutches on here before

Sounds like you didn't get it all the way into 2nd. You had a missed shift. It happens. You can adjust your shifting cables and play with that. Its really easy. Just remove you cup holder and get a flat head. put it into 4th gear, and unclip the clips. With the install of my TWM i have no more missed shifts and it really really gives the car a more solid feel while driving. Let alone having a shofter and quicker throw while shifting, the missed shifts soon become a thing of the past. I also removed a piece of plastic that the clips were hitting from the factory. There is a "how to" on youtube on the install of the TWM, and can also be shown the plastic piece that i removed as well. It is not my video however, but a good how to. Best of luck.

the LSJ clutch cant handle that. you need to have full traction in first gear before slamming 2nd and you need to give the clutch a little time to hook up
