non lsd diff problems
A little over a year ago my transmission blew apart and i had another non LSD put in. Well 15,000 miles later it's acting up again. The differential squeaks when there is only one tire spinning in the snow. I can honestly say i have not done any one wheel peels with this transmission other than one tire spinning in the snow. The only burnouts i have done were at the track and both wheels were always spinning. What do you think the squeaking noise is? It is getting louder each time i hear it. And to anyone looking to buy a Cobalt, buy the damn LSD and save yourself the trouble.

If you spin one wheel excessively (such as in the snow) the gears will overheat and the diff will need to be repaced. This is true with any car with an open differential, FWD or RWD.
