Since I know next to nothing about transmissions for these cars, I have a 06 ls 2.2 and wondering if i replace the wheel studs and axles, what's next on the list to break do to hard launches or track days? How much can a 5 spd in a base model hold before it breaks? Did any of them also ever come with LSD?


I know its a lot of questions, so thanks in advance for the answers.

 

It would be helpful to know your mods. If you aren't highly boosted, pretty much none of that is necessary to change. Even with big numbers the stock drivetrain (other than the clutch) holds up pretty well. lwpmoon has over 500whp on his stock trans and axles with no problems. Now if you beat on it with that much power, then yeah, something is gonna give out but if you don't do burnouts or get a lot of wheel hop it should be ok. And no none of the f23's ever came with a LSD

 

Basic bolt on's, and plans for boost. I quess I am just worried about stock parts giving up when I start to play with it more

Others have blown transmissions and snapped axles before, but it's usually from doing burnouts or getting wheel hop or something like that.
