Pretty sure my clutch is shot. Help!

Ok so.. after backing up out of a parking space today, i put the car in 1st to start moving and when i let out the clutch to move it did nothing. i can shift the car with it running and without having the clutch depressed. in first gear i dont hear much of anything and then in 2nd you start to hear some grinding noise, and then every gear after that it just gets louder and louder in each gear.

Now im only hear to see if this issue is common or if it has happened to anybody. now im pretty certain that this is my clutch finally gone bad but just for ***** and giggles seeing what you fine gentleman, and very few ladies have to say.

thank you

btw i have a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC with 93k

Did you check the fluid level in the slave?

Not really since the slave and the TOB are one unit located inside the trans directly on the input shaft...

You have 93k on the car and the clutch kit including the ToB/Slave is $300.00. If you did all the work to pull the trans and replace it and didn't do the clutch you would be an idiot.
My ToB blew about at 53k. Replaced everything while I was in there. Stock LSJ clutch is weak anyways.

yea. back when the car had lower miles i was gonna stage it and get a new clutch and all that but i had a spark plug blow out on me and ever since then i didnt wanna spend the money to do things like this. but now that im gonna more than likely spend 300$ or more, im considering throwing a stage kit in it and tuning it aswell. but who knows.

anyways, the other issue is that id be doing this crap in my driveway. any ideas on how to lift and lower the tranny? i dont have an engine hoist or anything of that caliber. all i have or should i say, all my father has is a 2 ton jack, 2 jack stands and thats it basically. i have my toolbox here so id have all the tools to do that job its just the tranny im worried about. itd be a big waste of time to do this all and not be able to get the damn tranny back up lol. so any tricks or ideas would be great,

I agree with him. Just replace the clutch while you are in there since you have to replace the TOB anyway.

We just drop the subframe out the bottom, then the trans, do the work and bench press them back into place.

So update.. Im not sure why i didnt think to check this when it happened. Probably because it didnt make sense that it would happen based on what i did but i went and looked at the car a few hours ago and the passenger side axle is actually snapped. So thats good news to me. Thanks for all the help guys.
