Question question about hurst sts....

Ok guys so Its been a while since ive gotten to post on here & i hve a question abut the hurst sts. I installed it a while ago & it doesnt feel any shorter than stock...in fact the only thing really different about it is 5th gear doesnt go over as far as when it was stock.

So my question to you all is,is there any way to shorten the cables or something??? Ive heard of some guys/girls doing that. still fairly new to the cobalt

Any help/input would be awesome!!thanks

Jeneane

technically the SS comes stock with a STS. so any aftermarket STS u put in u probably wont notice much of a difference. I did notice a little difference with my TWM STS but its not a whole lot.

It's not a short throw because of the height, it's a short throw because of the shift ratio from gear to gear. Hurst and B&M do nothing for that. TWM actually reduces shifting distance by 33% (At least that's what they advertise). And the height of their shifter is one inch shorter than stock.

Don't know how to answer you real question. I don't own a hurst, but I know a few people that do. Lemme see if I can get them to chime in.

^ thats right, and just like you mentioned Jeneane, the distance to 5th is shortened.

The hurst is really mostly an aesthetic mod. If you truly want/need a shorter throw, I'd sell the Hurst and pick up a TWM.

How is the install on a shifter for the TC?

I really like the looks of the TWM especially with the metal shifting knob

Are the bushings a big upgrade?

I have the hurst, and at first I would try for 5th too far over, but now I am used to the position and slide it right in each time. The husrt and a torque damper firmed up my shifts and it's 100x better then stock
