question on auto tranny

According to chevrolets website, the auto comes with a 3.63 axle drive ratio. Do all auto's come with this or is it an option only with the 1sb or lt trims or what ?

*MechanicalHEATER ENG MSRP*
Engine block heater (K05) $35.00
MERCHANDISED TRANS MSRP*
Transmission, 5-speed manual, includes 3.58 axle ratio (MM5) $0.00
Transmission, 4-speed automatic, electronically controlled with overdrive, includes 3.63 axle ratio (MX0) $850.00

* from chevrolets website

i think they all do
the manual has shorter gear ratios because it has more gears

You have a point, but thats pretty sporty gearing for just automatic sport compact.

Need to find out what the gear ratios in the transmissions are before you make any assumptions. If the auto has taller gears in it the final drive ratio may by higher in the auto even though the axle ratio is lower (lower gearing, numerically higher).

It might just have the slightly lower gearing in it because the auto is probably heavier...weight diff between manual/clutch vs. auto/converter - but that's just a guess.
