Shifting

A fluid change will help with shifting. Changed mine at 23k miles and I am happier now. Also found quite a bit of metal shavings on magetic drain plug. 75w85 or 75w90 GL-4 gear oil is what you need, 2 quarts.

It's easy. I did it maybe 3 weeks back.
Just two plugs for drain and fill.
I actually followed a guide on here somewhere.

I also had some shavings when I changed mine and my oil was pretty dark.
Used 75w-90 gl-4 without all the additives.

The only brands I saw available in stores are the Royal Purple 75w90 and Lucas 75w90 synthetic gear oil which are rated GL-4. The stock is 75w85 Castrol Burmah. The dealer may not have it or will have to special order the fluid and it would be much more expensive. I ended up using the Lucas gear oil. A closer match to stock would be the redline mt-85, but you will probably have to order this online.

Yes, you can, but not the OEM fluid.
The OEM fluid is about $20-25/quart from the dealership and you need 2..
Manual Transmission Fluid SAE 75W-85 GL/4 88862472 - Crate Engine Depot - PN and info.

I used Castrol, but it wasn't Burmah.

Yea I have the same problem. Ive noticed that if I throw it in neutral and rev it a bit , it shifts a lot better. So im thinking the fluid needs changed too but i had an axle seal replaced a few months back and I would think that means they would have had to at least add some fluid but who knows lol.

update: so far fiddling with the linkage works, but the problem comes up every now and then. still havent changed tranny fluid.

as far as shifter sloppynes, i gotta try to change the roll pin. i may try changing my whole shifter tho, as ive noticed there seems to be some play in a certain part that may not have anything to do with the roll pins.

where this part connects seems to be a lot of play. i dont know if its normal or not, but maybe a short shifter or another stocker would help.

Put a ziptie around the two cables you can see when you pop the cup holder out, it gets rid of a lot of slop. Ghetto, but worked for me.
