Slave cylinder advice?
Slave cylinder advice?
Ive been having issues with my car after a clutch install. Stupid mechanic did the clutch, but didnt do the slave. Past 4 months of driving, my clutch was engaging in the middle, and sometimes at the bottom(which it should having a new clutch)! Pedal felt spongy, and i was told to just drive it and it would set itself. Finally, i started getting a softer pedal, and problems getting in and out of gear, and would have to pump the **** out of the pedal to get pressure. So last week i dropped off my car to have it done(Master and slave) and picked it up today. I drove about 10 min, and decided to nail the gas, power shifted and revved up to 6500 in 2nd, and BAM,pedal went super soft, then couldnt get into gear. Car is now back at the shop, and they now had to get the diagram from GM for the proper assembly and hydraulic lines. Why the hell woul it have popped from from a hard high revving shift? Car should handle that,,,no?
how much did the shop charge you for the slave and master replacement? if it wasnt close to the same price as a clutch change, minus the cost of a clutch, then they did not replace the slave.
the throw out bearing and slave are a single unit inside of the transmission housing. so to replace it, you have to drop the trans just like with a clutch replacement. if youre running wide open throttle to redline, shifting and the pedal goes limp, the throw out bearing is on its way out.
you can try bleeding it, but usually with the symptoms your describing, youll need a new throw out bearing. if youre gonna order the stuff yourself, go ahead and get a new clutch pipe too. you can find it all here:
