Is it slipping as you shift? Are you roasting the tires in 1st and jamming it into 2nd?

Stop beating on it if so, lol.

Exedy makes good clutches. Spec is also good from what I hear.

i only peeled the tires once on a hill, but if i take off quick then **** in to second it wont catch till i let off the gas completely, i was looking at a stage 1 exedy, would that be sufficient enough?

Depends what you plan on doing with the car really. I'm no clutch expert so i'll wait for the members who know more about them to chime in. But it sounds like the previous owner smoked the clutch on ya. Take it back to where you got it and tell them immediately. You should be able to get that warrantied.

Nice car BTW.

thx, they said the clutch wasnt covered, under waranty, but i thought there was a 100000 mile warranty since it is gm certified.

it already has a corsa perf exhaust and an injen coldair intake on it, the car is quick when it cathes, thx for replies.

I bet the previous owner beat on it then sold it when the clutch started to slip.

Tell them they better cover that clutch, it should have a 30 day bumper to bumper warranty at the very LEAST. And since you JUST picked the car up they don't really have any reason to deny you coverage. Drop the car off and tell them you're not picking it up until the clutch is fixed.

i would love to take it back there and have them replace it, but since i am planning on making the car faster, i should probably goahead and install an aftermarket clutch

Yeah. Make them at least cover the labor.. tell them you'll pay for the clutch you want and they should install it free of charge.

i concur, if i had the car 2 hours and it did that, i'd be ripping. plus, if they're being tools, that sounds to me like they knew it was going...

i just found out that it was a former, rental car, which they never once said, but that mkes some sense about the clutch, but i dont know of any rental company that would put an intake and pipe on a rental car, or any company that rents performance oriented cars?

oh, and i have something that is plugged into my obd port and it only has like 3 pins in it, is that something stock or is it possibly a chip or something?, thx for your help guys, im new to the 4cyl world and trying to read as much as possible before asking, thx again!

Yeah, nothing should be plugged into unless you have an interceptor

personally, I would make them replace that clutch with an oem, which should be free of charge. then do some mods while putting some extra coin away for a new one. while enjoying your mods, have some fun with the free clutch. by the time it goes you should have plenty of money to get an exedy hypersingle.

just my .02

your story gets weirder and weirder... there's no way that car was a rental car, and did you not test drive it before you bought it??

Goes in the guage pillar, it is digital.

IMO a must have for someone beating on their car.

You probably have just a boost guage.

is in your obd port?

any chance of getting a pic of what's plugged into the obdII port? Like said above, it shouldn't have anything in there. As for the clutch, if you got it for a GM dealer, and it was certified, I'd go back and talk to someone. The idea of having them install it for free was a good one, they'd probably take that and run with it.

onboard dianostic(sp?) port. Were they(Gm or whoever) can plug their scan tool into. Well I guess they could plug their scan tool in, if they were that lonely.

one of the forms we signed , my mom read after the fact, stated, you as the buyer acknowledge the fact that this car was a former rental car, i wasnt really pissed, but i would have liked to know, i drove the car twice before i bought it but i really didnt punch it hard enough untill i drove off the lot, i will get some pics up tonight, i do have a second gauge, shows mph and other stuff.

ok, so it is an interceptor, but not sure how it would have been a rental

you bought a rental supercharged cobalt?

i don't think so, something is rotten in the state of denmark.

when i used to sell cars, the disclosure form was rather generic and could be any variety of things, i would re-read that sheet of paper...

First off, I'm thinking that the car was possibly a leased car, and not a "rental".

But the question is, what does your acknowledging that it's a "former rental car" imply?

That there's no warranty of any kind? I don't think so.

What does your agreement actually say about warranties?

It's too bad you didn't find out about the clutch b4 you bought the car, but I don't think that automatically puts them in the free and clear.

Who did you buy the car from ... Chevy Dealer? Private Dealer?

Still should be a 30 day warranty, no matter what.

i got it from a gm dealer, but from their used lot, it is "certified" what ever that means, i thought it was supposed to have a warranty if it was certified, and is first gear real tourqy for everyone else, i have been driving stick for a while, but this car makes me feel like a newb when i start in first or second.
