smokey clutch

so yesterday I was leaving my sisters house and my nephews lined up to watch me leave...I smoked first briefly and hit second....funny thing was I diddnt hear the tires scratching the road and the revs went up to the limiter, I back ed off right away but still saw a blueish smoke rise up over the windshield. That really pisses me off since I bought her new and she only has 8600 miles on her. Iknow some of you may say I dont know how to drive my car but, Damn, If a kia rio can chirp second I would think an SS could.

Thanks for the help, Ill be taking my driving lesons soon.... the clutch isnt gone, still grabs fine under normal driving and seems abit more graby after the smoke show. I had just got her out of storage 2 days before.... it was a cool day (51*) although the engine was warmed up maybe the clutch wasnt and maybe some juck from sitting through the winter was on it... doesnt matter I just wanted to venr anyways.

make sure you are not spinning the tires at the top of first before you shift, it will slip if you do that

yep, the engagement point of the clutch is very high. i try to knee myself in the face when letting off of the clutch. haha. it hates heat and gets glazed over pretty easily. for the next couple days, downshift the car to engine brake(rev match of course) and take it easy, no WOT. the glaze on the clutch will come off

I personally believe its the luck of the draw on these clutches, but blazin is right.

With the tires spinning at the top of first, the wheel speed and rpm are matched, but not with the cars true speed.
Grabbing second quickly when this happens is like trying to take off in second gear, smokie-smokie!
