Those with SPEC stage 2+

Those with the Spec stage 2+ part # SCO73H.....I just recieved mine and there was no bearing and tool kit included. The spec site says that these 2 items are included in the stage2+ clutch kit for the SS/SC. Did any of you guys have these included??

They are not included, where did you see they were included.

No aftermarket clutch kit, that I know of, includes the TOB/slave or alignment tool.

You have a complete kit, where ever you ordered it from most likely had a universal product description and states a generic listing.

Use your old TOB and if it is bad get a new one from GM. The OEM TOB one works on them.

Exedy does Comes with a nice alignment tool. Don't need a pilot bushing, we don't use one and slave cylinders are fine. Just put one in a customers car. THEE only clutch to buy and use in a Cobalt. PERIOD

here is a cut and paste of my message to SPEC and their reply..

The Cobalt SS does not utilize a conventional throwout bearing. It has
a
concentric hydraulic slave that, on most Cobalts, does not yet need to
be
replaced. It is a dealer only item. Before I spent money on it, it
may be
a good idea to have your mechanic inspect it at teardown.
I will send an alignment tool, as that should have been in the box. It
will
leave today. Thanks,

actually my spec stage three came with the alignment tool but not the TOB/Slave. They do not come with the TOB/Slave as it is dealer specific. This was told to me by the Spec tech guys.

Well I ordered both the Clutch and Flywheel. Maybe they do not give you a tool when just ordering the clutch.

I had to order the TOB/slave from the states. There was not one to be found in Canada. There were only about ten left in the states also. I phoned the nearest dealer in the states and he checked the national dealer boards and faxed me a copy of the dealers that had one. It cost me about 180 CAD to have it shipped overnight. If any one is going to replace there clutch I went with the Spec stage 3 + flywheel after it was recommended to me by spec for the mods I have. I also changed the TOB/slave. Don't let the dealer or tech tell you you don't need to change it because you will regret not doing it in about 3 - 6 months down the road. I am from old school mechanics and every time I swapped out a clutch the TOB was always changed. just some friendly advice.

cheers

Well. So far so good. Spec has specifically redesigned there clutch for our cars. That is why I opted for there clutch flywheel combination because the earlier clutches did not fair well when combined with other aftermarket flywheels.

Cheers

The latest SPEC clucth kits have been great, no complaints.

It is ones that order a normal stage 2 or stage 3 and go all out. You need to get the "+" plus series to hold the serious power; they are the only way to go.

The Spec 3+ kit is actually comparable to the Spec 3 kit. The differences are that the 3+ has the stage 4 pressure plate but a solid disk while th 3 has a 6 puck disk. The clutch pedal feel on the 3+ is a little heavier compared to the 3. Again this comes from talking with the tech guys at Spec. Very good customer service.

Racing on the street on street tires puts NO stress on the clutch. Now add slicks, go to a real track with traction and ANY amount of power. The clutch will not hold. PERIOD!

Now i have heard they redesigned some things and added thier own flywheel so maybe the new stuff is ok. I had a 2+ then a 3+, wouldn't hold the power my slow 12sec cobalt made

I reccomend the same clutch the GM engineers and race team reccomend, EXEDEY!!

YellerColt doesnt race on the street...he has drag slicks and stage 2 axles. He has ran multiple passes in the 1/8th with that setup with no problem. 8.3 in the 1/8th as a matter of fact...
