Tranny dying??
So I attempted to replace my roll pin but had absolutely no luck! I tried to knock it out the a 3/16 punch but couldn't get it to move.. I put pressure on it and tried to wiggle the arm up and down, side to side, and turned the arm a bit... I even pulled the tranny mount out to get a little more room, and still no luck. I hit it with just the hammer itself which made the pin flush with the arm but that was all the movement I got. Any suggestions?
My tranny has been recently making a rubbing/ grinding noise when I almost have the clutch reengaged in 1st. It doesn't do it all the time, but it still does it. In. Second it makes a chirp when the clutch is almost completely engaged. The same with 3rd except it's really faint.. Could this be a bad throwout bearing?

may be related, may not be, I dont know the schematics of our manual (or many) transmissions. But here is my similar experience, sometimes I too get locked out of a gear, mostly first. What I do is just push the clutch in, put it in another gear, than go back to center, than put it in the gear i wanted, and let the clutch out, and it goes in gear. Kinda like double clutching, but i just thought it was the linkage gettin hung up... dunno if this is what your talkin about but it sounds similar to my occasional problem.
Sorry for thread jack.
With 50,000 you should to a flush and fresh fluid instead of just topping it off (IIRC it's a sealed case, so it shouldn't be low unless you have a crack in the housing, in which case you have bigger fish to fry).
Squishy clutch could be the master cylinder going. I've heard a lot of people have had to replace them.

If ur car is making a grinding noose whwn engaged thays apparently not ure linkage or ure roll pin. More like a internal bearing, ure clutch friction disc is riding on its rivots or the pressure plate is loose.. Ive also seen the t.b get loose and cause issues as well..... So i would take ure speed sensor out of the tranny! Its under ure fuse box. Because when u take it out itll have metal flakes on it if so it can be normal, but if its bad id suggest a flush unless u have peices of the gears on it as i did.
about me blowing alot of trannys lol i get a good deal buying trannys lol

say you have about 40k on your car, the correct amount of flakes is truly none. But its ok, because sometimes you will gring a gear. So a little is acceptable, if i had a pik i could show you. if theres alot of gunk on the sensor then id start investing in a new tranny since youve either have a grinded gear, or some bad bearings, which in the instance of having flakes ina trany you could possibly hurt your bearings and ect.

*raises hand* Never had a roll pin problem. Had a defective linkage I had to have replaced, but the roll pin is still holding strong going on 6 years now. (Watch that bastard break tomorrow now that I said that....)
My linkage actually bent because of the plastic clip. Thanks to TWM for solving that problem
Yep. Mine bent too. This was back when the Cobalt SS was about 2 months old. Chevy dealers didn't stock tranny parts yet. Luckily after some 'splaining about where the transmission came from, the parts guy was smart enough to call the SAAB dealer and get one instead of waiting for parts to be pulled off the assembly line from Chevy.
