Question tranny going out or do i just need fluid change?

hey guys, went to the track last night and encountered some tranny probs i wanna see what you guys think the problem is. Im using a 4 speed automatic btw (refuse to swap a 5 speed, trying all i can with this auto )

do 1 run on my new tires, fooling with what psi to use with them, run a 14.4 cause of a crappy 60 foot, go back for 2nd run and i take off the line and my tranny trys to slip at shiftpoint from 2nd to 3rd and wouldnt actually go into 3rd. So after that i pulled over in the track parking lot and let it sit for 10 mins or so. Go back for a 3rd run and it goes through second and slips from second to third and wouldnt go into third this time either. Took the car out today and it was fine, no slipping or anything on the street. Could this be caused by my tranny going out or just by it overheating or by the fluid needing to be changed.

Fluid hasnt been changed in a sad 30k or so and i dont have a tranny cooler currently. Any help?

Make sure it is at the proper level for sure. I've switched to trick shift in my truck and it has made a big difference. If its too low or too high it will also make a huge difference in shifting performance. I would first change the fluid and look for metal particles, then put some new good high quality fluid in it.

Do you have an autotrans interceptor to sharpen up the shifts? Let me know, I still have one (used for a few months before car broke). I'll hook you up for cheap.

i would but believe it or not they dont make any performance stuff for my tranny, only a auto trans interceptor but id rather not use that cause ive heard a few people complaining that its screwed their trannys up. How much though if i were to go that route for the interceptor?

Automatic transmissions hate heat, they run like ass when temps go up. After you've changed your fluid and put a cooler on it, hopefully that will help or else pray you didnt burn up your clutch friction material on your 2-3 clutch pack.
