tranny question

ok so i have an 05 ss/sc an my tranny case is cracked...i found one out of a redline non g85 package
but they claim that there tranny wont fit on the ss/sc
the redline is a 2004
does anyone know if it will fit?
please help

iirc the speed sensor is different on the 04 redline.

Yeah the 04 IRL tranny is a one year only beast. It doesnt use a VSS in the case like the Balts do, it uses one off the right hand axke intermediate shaft.

100% identical EXCEPT there is a blank hole there for the speed sensor that you would have to bore out out and that would be technically possible but practically useless - strip trans and do it etc. Swap for a Cobalt trans i could do that for you but i dont know how far away you are...and my trans are perfect and yours I dunno....it all costs money so let me know if i can help you pm me thanks

100% right and you can convert back to the intermediate shaft style (all grand am Cobalt SC were that way except for the two 06 `cars we built ) but it takes a different calibration to accept the different speed signal, back to whats practical. You can put a Cobalt trans in a red line ez the other way is not ex at all....
