I have a 06 ss/na with the LE5 of course. And I believe I'm getting a little bit of syncro issues. My couple questions are,
What tranny does my car have? Is it a F35 like eveyone else's? And is it easier to replace the syncros or put it in the shop, or just cheaper / easier to just buy another tranny and put in it? So far it's just 2nd gear that I'm having issues with. Idk if changing tranny fluid would help or not. Kinda doubt it.

You've got the F23 transmission, like all other manual cobalts that came naturally aspirated. As for the gear problems, what exactly are you experiencing? Having trouble getting into gear? Shifter pops out of gear? Is your clutch slipping? Are you leaking any fluid? Do you hear any noises such as chatters or deep loud hums like something spinning up?

Hopefully you've noticed some symptoms. Never know, could just be your fluid is in need of a change.

And only problem I have is if I'm driving my car hard is when I shift from 1st to 2nd it will grind and it never did it when I first got the car. Not saying I drive my car hard all the time but when I do it will grind. But if I shift smooth and easy it's fine.

 

My car seems to have developed the same issue. When you shift hard into second the trans protest loudly. It sounds like synchros. I rebuilt a TT trans once for the same thing. Personally I have no interest in pulling and rebuilding my trans, I just stopped shifting like a gorilla. If I loose second all together I'll just buy a used trans.
