Trans dissasembly help!

Ok, Im going to be removing my trans this winter to install a LSD insert. Is there any special tools I need to split the case halfs or hold the gears in place? Anyone who has done something like this, please let me know how it went or what to watch out for. Thanks.

theres a lot of special tools you need, theres a fixture that holds all the shafts upright so you can slide the case half off. and some other crap youll need.

Your best bet is to find a used LSD tranny from a wrecking yard, because it is a P.I.T.A to disassemble our tranny. Trust me i know, i have taken one apart. To put that aftermarket LSD in the tranny you have to take everything apart, even removing all of the gears from the input and output shafts just to get the differential out of the case.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The LSD insert in from TEAM GREEN, they are having a group buy on them over on the J-body org. My friend is a chevy tech, so I think I can get all the special tools I need.

hey i was going to send you a step by step from GM's service information but my computer is down for the moment. I am just at our schools library and the info is saved on my desktop. Im sure that since you have a buddy that is a gm tech like me then he should be able to get it for you. If you still want it let me know and i will get it to you asap
