TWM compared to BPS (noob version/pic)

So this is my noob review on my experience between TWM short throw shifter and BPS short throw shifter

A little background, I have been using TWM for 2 years plus some days. My main concern why I wanted to try something different, is because the TWM wasn't as smooth as the stock shifter was. I would need to put more effort to put into gear.
If it was human error during installation, then I just installed BPS the wrong way too, because I followed the same instructions.

Most of us already know the main differences, and advantage and disadvantage of each ones from previous threads. I just wanted to add my personal ones

TWM
Advantage:
Knob adapter works with BPS shifter

Disadvantage:
Not as smooth as I thought going into gears
Expensive

BPS using stock shifter
Advantage:
Smoother shifting
Cheaper
Shift knob is now level with the arm rest lol (my wrist is not twisted downwards)

Disadvantage:
Can't reach the mute bottom for the passport radar
Can't buy large sodas
Stock knob won't go lower, stays as it was stock height.

Both are about the same throw and height.

Conclusion:
For me, BPS is smoother than TWM, I don't need to put so much effort into changing gears. I don't know what was the issue or if it is defective or all of them are like that.
I might just use a weighted knob (have 2, don't ask) from TWM combined with the BPS so is low and how little more room.

I might have missed something, if I remember I will add it up.
Any questions feel free to ask.

I'm actually shocked you have a large cup of soda in there. Shoot if I put anything there it's gonna fly. Sometimes I have to face the coffee drinking spout forward and drive slower than normal to be safe . BPS ftw

I still never understood why there isnt a bend in the shifter like the stock shifter, for either TWM or BPS. If they added that little bend it would allow much better overall fitment. I had similar TWM issues with my base model (same transmission as the 2.4L), it took a lot of adjustment to get it to feel smooth.

Same here, first pull I ever did with my LNF I had a smart water bottle in the passenger side cup holder. Thankfully the lid was on but it still went flying

idk why everyone hates on TWM ... just because there stuff is expensive ?

My TWM was the first "mod" i did to my car 6 years ago. It has been flawless ever since day one. 0 complaints at all.

Before all of these other companies came out with a working short shifter TWM was the #1 recommended shifter out there. The hurst and bwm shifters sucked.

So now companies reverse engineer a TWM and its fantastic because its cheaper ... so lets bash the original guys because theres is a higher price to help cover r&d costs .... just dont make sense to me.

and on a side note, TWM was the first to come out with the solid base bushings and heavy duty cable clamp ... the 3 pieces combined are great if you install it all correctly.

That's why I don't know why my felt like that, I couldn't get to be smoother. And I had help installing it, BPS I did it by myself. Like I said idk what it was, if error or defective or something else. Remember this is for the F23. I have read that people with F35 havent got any issues.

Most expensive and feels like garbage. Crappy customer service.

They may be the original but they sucked and somebody else released a better product that is cheaper. Welcome to capitalism.

I think the shifters for the F35 are a lot better than for the F23 with TWM. I've had TWM STS in both, the F23 didn't shift all that smooth and didn't have the same bend (which it looks like BPS didnt bend it either). The shifter for the F35 is pretty smooth, took a little additional adjustment when I bought the car. I also bought a BPS that I haven't installed yet so I can compare the 2 on a F35 transmission.

From what I've deduced so far, the reverse lockout is too big to correctly engage all the gears.

Perhaps yours was machined slightly undersized. It's also possible the stopper in your shifter housing is slightly bent more than ours.

The fact remains, most people have trouble with their TWM. You being an outlier does not mean they make a good product. It means you got lucky.
