Exclamation Violent shaking on 1st gear

Here's an issue I've been having for a while already, sometimes it does it and sometimes it does not. It happens mostly during the morning, when it's cold or when raining and it usually goes away after 10-15 minutes of driving. When I let off the clutch and accelerate from a stand still the whole car starts to shake violently. It doesn't do anything of the sort when I shift through any other gears. It feels like the clutch is trying to engage but bounces which makes the car shake violently as the car is trying to take off. After driving for a while it stops doing that completely. As far as I know the clutch as been replaced by the previous owner and all I've been told was that it was changed for some sort of ceramic clutch. I haven't experienced any kind of clutch slippage either. Any ideas here?

I know little to nothing about clutches.

But you aren't talking about wheel hop are you? Sorry had to ask.

It does feel extremely similar to wheel hop but it's a little less violent and it does it much faster.

Traction is excellent, I have 4 brand new Nitto performance tires. Beside it did it with my Dunlops this winter and my Bridgestones last summer.

What are the visual cues of a broken trans mount?

Ever think its a 6 puck clutch? Try just revving it up a couple times and dumping it. The only ceramic clutch you can slip similarly to stock is a ZZP Stage 4 and its a pretty pricey clutch. Most ceramic clutches are 6 puck so I'm betting its just a really aggressive clutch. Probably too much for the car.

sounds like clutch chatter. could be due to broken springs in the clutch, a warped pp or fw, or could be a glazed clutch.

if its glazed, try revving your engine and slipping the clutch till you can smell it to heat it up and burn off that layer. if that doesn't make it go away, then it's probably not due to glaze.

A puck clutch can cause chatter when cold just because of the nature of them. They grab very quickly, and aren't exactly made for a daily driver.

Actually I'm starting to believe the problem ain't the clutch but wheel hop. Could it be possible that during the morning when the weather is below 0 my performance tires won't grip and I'm experiencing wheel hop. It did it again the other morning while my windows were down and it sounded like the passenger wheel was jumping back and forth. I ordered the Ingall engine torque damper from ZZP. Hopefully that'll get rid of the problem!

The correct way to get rid of wheel hop is rotated mounts.

And yes it can happen under different grip conditions. Cold tires is a possibility.

i was thinking tranny mount inserts could be going bad, but then again if that were the case it would do it everytime when taking off. So i would also go wit clutch issues as mentioned above

Installed the Ingalls engine torque damper yesterday and the issue is now gone. When I took off this morning the car shaked so little compared to how it used that it was almost imperceptible, almost to the point I had forgotten the car ever had this issue. Now I need figure out how to adjust it!
