Will a LS3 engine fit 2006 cobalt ss/sc?

I understand that I would have do so much more to the car like change Drivetrain, transmission, and wiring harness maybe? I’m still new to this and when my engine dies out, would like to use this car to learn about cars so I want to go all out. Would like to do ls3 but I don’t know all that I would have to do? So any tips and pointers would be appreciated. Won’t happen for a while but i would like to know for starters.

Its a lot of work. Instead of that why don't you convert your ss/sc to turbo and or possibly rebuild your engine also with cams, valves, and pistons. You could end up making over 400whp easily if you did that and it would faster and way less hastle then trying to do a complete custom engine swap. Like myself i'm supercharging my 2007 G5 GT Sedan. I'll be getting really good power without trying to do an engine swap of say a cobalt ss/sc motor would be even though it can be done but like I said its a lot of work and you can go an easier route and make crazy power with your car's already existing power plant.

Please dont take this the wrong way, but if you have to ask for any tips and pointers, it leads me to believe this is more of a pipe dream than something that can be reasonably achieved and does not show any basic knowledge or understanding.

Learning about cars would be, i want to see how far I can push this engine, when it blows rebuild it myself and then add a turbo kit or something. Then I would consider this a more serious attempt at learning about cars.

Again dont take that the wrong way, this is my take on reading this. Best of luck.

With enough money you can fit w16 in there. But seriously if you have to ask, NO. It will not fit.

It can be done, but it will cost you a small fortune. I agree with just building the LSJ and turbo charging it.

This is the RWD conversion thread.

I agree with the above comments, if you have to ask while admitting your lack of knowledge, then don't try doing a swap.

You would need to do tons of research and most of that will come back with the same answer, if you don't know how to do it, don't waste your time/$$$.

I learnt the hard way, I trusted the wrong shops at first, I was lied to more times than I can count. My thread, if you read it all, would be a prime example of how not to do a RWD conversion. Far too many years wasted, way to much money lost and it's all there for anyone to read. I knew nothing when I started this project and while I do plenty of work on the car now, the difference between an expert and myself is a huge difference.

The lost $$$ from wannabe performance shops and all around dishonest shop owners, is enough to drive most people crazy. Good thing I was already crazy.

The truth for me is that I will be paying off my project/mistakes for years.

If you really want to figure out how to do this type of work, go back to school. Take welding, take Engineeringmachinist, take mechanics. All of those courses are worth the money so you can build your own crazy projects.

The other option is turbocharging your car. This has been done plenty of times and there is plenty of threads here on what/how to do it.

If I had know at your age how much more beneficial those courses would have been, I would have gladly changed trades.

I have said this to others over time, really consider where you want to end up. If you don't know the end point then how are you supposed to draw a map of how to get there?

Start with smaller upgrades to build up your XP and learn a lot more about your chassis and the possibilities of crazy ideas like your longitudal V8 swap. If your engine dies then you should confirm your level of skill by swapping the engine yourself and see what type of challenges you face and how you overcome adversity. Modified cars in general (real mods like engine internal, power adder swaps, fuel system, stand alone, etc) will have it's challenges in maintenance, breakdowns and repair for any experienced person.
