zzp f40 swapped cobalts!!!

Hows the car drive, shift, and handle the power? How much power are you putting down? Any issues? If so what was the problem and how did you fix it? Did you install your self or have zzp install the f40? How easy/hard was the install if you did it your self? Thanks!!

The install is not that hard but I am guessing I am the first to install by myself and not at zzp. No install directions yet lol.

I am one waiting for axle and jack shaft so have not even drove it yet. In all honesty I can drop the cradle like no ones business lol so that's not hard. With no instructions the shifter is actually hard to figure out to put it together lol. There's a weird plastic piece and I still haven't got it. Waiting on Matt to email me back but it's the weekend.

Also. Can zzps rotated mount be used for the front trans mount to reduce chance of wheel hop?

The swap actually uses the f35 mounts, so don't get rid of them. The shifter cables are easy to do with the motor out. Your best bet is to drop the whole cradle pull the engine off and then change the trans out. You can get ZZP to modify the twm but I chose to go with the new buick shifter. I got a couple pics of how I did it in the garage, I too used a jack and stands but my way is easy.

put the car in the air, take off the front clip pull the crash support, get you three 2x4's and screw them together to use as a support to jack the car up and down. Remove all the wiring harness, get a furniture dolly and lower the car down until it set on the dolly, don't put all the weight on there. Remove all the cradle bolts and then jack the car up and the cradle will stay on the dolly to be rolled out the front. Has to get turned sideways to come out tho. Don't forget the steering colum bolt either.

It can be done that way

Is the F40 supposed to handle more power than the F35? Since the F40 is a 6spd I am hesitant to even look into it since my LSJ is turbo swapped but if its stronger I may be willing to switch.

Does it bolt right in to a Cobalt and will it work for a 5 speed? And is it better than a TWM?

I would say it wont work with the 5 speed. The twm needs to be modified to work with the f40.

Does that mean that the other 5 gears are shorter? I love the pull I have in 2nd and third and would hate to have to shift more often. That would remind me of the 6spd and 5spd in the Subarus.

You wont have to shift more often because the final drive is smaller at 3.55. 1-4 ratios are closer which is better for acceleration.

Oh boy.. Now I want! Can an F35 be converted or would I need to buy the entire trans?
