Had both the 4.45 5 speed and now the F40 conversion. Hands down the F40 swap is the way to go. Love the extra gear 80mph and 3.5k is sweet. Great roll racing trans for 3rd 60mph 4rpm.

Not for the track i have no idea yet. Slapping on a 6262 here next week and finally giving it a go.

Checked the fluid in the f40 I picked up. The little bit that was left in it from the scrap yard draining it after they removed it from9m the car. Its pretty clean no metal shavings or debris.

Same with mine, drained it yesterday, no metal, also pretty red. Going to drop in some redline when I get the axle back.

The years keep going by, but we are getting closer to what I've been looking for.

If it is possible to swap individual gears out of the F40, we might have something closer to what I was looking for (how many years ago?).

"Personally, I'd like to see something like this:

2.72/1.89/1.37/1.045/.78/.62 with the stock 4.04's"

So if combining the two different ratio F40 transmissions, you could get:

3.77/2.04/1.37/1.05/.85/.62 with 3.55 Final

Hopefully I'll be joining the club in the next couple months too. I've got the ZZP kit already sitting here, but I'm waiting on the built/cryoed trans to come in. The ZZP kit apparently includes a clutch pressure plate now too, so you basically get a full flywheel+clutch setup with the kit now. I opted for the dual mass flywheel this time, coming from a Fidanza lightweight one. I think the car will run better with it. From what I've read the F40s seem to stand up to more abuse and are less noisy with dual mass flywheels.

There are around 8+ different versions. Some are different bellhousings, most are different gearing combinations, and a few are even auto. The one that'll work is the 2.0T Saab, as mentioned. The 07+ 9-3 one is the one of choice due to its compatibility and gearing. The newer Buick one would probably work, but the disadvantage of the newer one is the gearing isn't as advantageous for performance usage. Upside is you can get one new though.

Yeah, I heard that Castrol Burmah 75w-85 stuff is the OEM stuff (GM# 88862472 I think it is), but Redline can be used too.

From what I've seen, sometimes the transmissions are bit moody to shift until they warm up. Sometime with light usage they don't warm up, so it's common for people with F40s to only fill the fluid half full, so that the fluid warms up with/for normal usage.
