Re Trifecta Tuned

4rth gear dyno pull
YouTube - 2008 Cobalt SS @ TI Dyno
I have the dyno print out also just haven't taken pics of it to load up.
Mods are in my signature along w/the peak #'s I recently put down.
I am curious to what ya guys think about my first trifecta tune w/ charge pipe,IC pipe,SRI was 280hp @ 300tq, then I get a zzp catless dp and get it re trifecta tuned and end up w/ this 294hp @ 294tq.

What type of dyno?
What temps that day?
Why a 4th gear pull?
How many psi?

I've dyno'd at 289/320 on a Dynojet at about 80* outside on 21lbs of boost
Then I dyno'd at 284/332 on a DynoMITE AWD machine at 75* outside on 25lbs of boost

Both were done in 3rd gear, and last year at the SMG dyno day every cobalt there was done in 3rd too.

Here is my 284 pull from recently.

Guy asked my 1:1 lol I said its a 5spd so he said to do it in 4rth, I have ran my car on that dyno 6 times.
That day ot was 80 degrees maybe a little more, running a 23psi Trifecta tune. I have heard ppl around my area say things about this places dyno #'s being off & its starting to look like its true the more ppl I talk to. Yes it is a mustang dyno, I am told to expect 15% lower #'s then if it were on a dynojet scale. The hp was what I expected off that type of dyno but I was also expecting to see 320-330+ peak wtq.
Nice vids btw guys!

I just expected more tq, not to be equal w/the hp. I can tell you it feels like I have more then 294 tq but we will see when I get to a dynojet dyno to see how different these dynos are from eachother. From now on I am only going to do 3rd gear pulls, not sure why he wanted me to do 4rth gear pulls.

Where did you hear this clevelandracing.com I assume? No biggie because I have heard the same thing from ppl in this area about it so I am not suprised if it made its way to CR.com. Nobody would say so on ashtabularacing.com just because its the local auto enthusiast forum & the guy is pretty cool.

Not sure, I am gonna do a pull in 3rd then a pull in 4rth & see what the difference is between the 2. I won't be doing this till the spring though so don't hold your breathe on my account lol, I also plan on going to a different dyno. With my mods I should be seeing over 300 ft lbs no reason why I shouldn't be.

To the get more accurate numbers it should be done in the gear closest to 1-1. Listen to your dyno operator, your 4th gear is your ~1-1

If you watch my dyno, and most others, the dyno guy brings the car down to low RPMS to start the pull and get a good graph curve.

Bad things happen to these cars doing low RPM high boost pulls in 4th and 5th....

I'll stick with a dyno in 3rd.

nah just people on here saying that they have had problems and dont think that they are accurate for our cars, but who knows.

Oh ok was just curious.

Mustang dynos claim to be the most accurate just because they always get lower #'s then dynojets or dynapacks. Ppl telll me its the most realistic dyno scale out there, I have also been told that this particular dyno is off so it may be more then 15% difference from that of a dynojet. Not worried bout it will figure this non sense out next spring.

It's just a number. No 2 dynos read the same, so who really cares what one says vs. the other. Take your car to the track and run it.

This is correct 4th gear is the gear closests to 1:1 therefore dyno pulls should be done in this gear.

Ok,

You buy a TC cobalt, boost it over 21psi, and blow it up doing full boost pulls from 1800rpm on a dyno in 4th gear.... Sure, you'll have to spend tons of money to fix it, but hey, you've got more "accurate" numbers!

Obviously I do, was trying to figure out posibilities of why my tq #'s where low, I have ran my car over 20+ times the first year I bought it(stock). How many times have your ran yours since you purchased it in the first year? I am sure you can say the same about no 2 tracks will run the same time or your best time as well too just a thought.

Thanks to everyone that stayed on topic & offered me ideas & posible reasons of my question.

I dynoed w/ a trifecta 25psi tune, upper charge pipe, k&n drop-in, and Hahn cat back. It put 276/327 down on a dynojet in 4th gear pull roughly 80-85 degrees. I tryed third first and at 5200 it just basically shut its self down and wouldnt let it rev passed that. Ive got vids of both 3rd and 4th gear pulls at home, will try to post them later
