Question 06 LS with 05SS MP3 radio and sub

I have an 06LS and recently purchased a 05SS MP3 radio on Ebay.
1st question: Will I need to have the radio re-programmed so it will accept my VIN?
2nd, in the LS does it have the wire from radio/amp to trunk for the sub? If it's there, I couldn't find it. There are holes in the body and carpet to accept the sub screws.
If it's not present, what would be the best way to wire the sub?

Thanks

ususally those factory subs are usually tied into some speaker lines on the acutally harness. i would say try to findout what colors are goin up to the stock sub and try lookin at our stock amp and see if those colors are there. im not sure how GM directly wired that sub to the amp. from there it goes to the harness as probably speaker wire. the only really way to find out is by havin the player on and cut the speaker wires..i wouldnt do taht. radio should work..its the same harness.so i dont see that as a problem.

In order to get a sub hooked using the stock headunit, you'll need to tap into the rear speakers.

Most likely you will not have a prob putting the mp3 radio in the cobalt.

But In my opinion, it's more worth it to get a aftermarket deck with subwoofer out. Than run the rca's to your trunk.

yeah man, do that. you are not going to have a lot of independent sound control with the sub tapped into the rear speakers.

Wink Started the install

Just to let you guys and girls know:

1 - The radio is locked, guess I need to go to the dealer to have it unlocked.
2- The Canadian LS model doesn't have any OEM amp installed. The second plug for the back of the radio is not there.

What small amp would anyone recommend. I jsut want to power the 10" pioneer sub. No need for extra loud bass as the kids will almost always be ridding with us.

THanks
