06 stock Mp3 cd unit?

how much do these cost? im fed up with trying to find a nice aftermaket unit with ipod support, so i guess MP3 cd playback would be better then nothing.

how much do these go for?

if your gonna get one, why not go for an '07 style? It has the input in the front...
i'd imagine it would take some rigging-up to get it to perform right....

if you decide to go that route, do a search... i know someone has already posted up alot of info on the swap....

besides that, stock decks run for about $100-200 from what i've seen on ebay...

Ebay is your best bet, dealers charge upwards of 500

They're completly compatable. And you can install it yourself no problem, but you will have to goto the dealer and get then to relearn a new vin and unlock the unit. Probly cost 25-50 bucks to get that done.

By chance, does anyone have a photo of the rear of the stock 06 unit?
I would really rather not tear apart my dash if someone already has a pic.

Like I said before you will have to goto a dealership and have them unlock it.

Each stock headunit has the original cars VIN number encoded into the radio to prevent theft. IF you put A different headunit in your car (as long as its the GM one not aftermarket) you need to have it unlocked and the VIN relearned to your car.

Why not just go with an alpine, the ipod interface is built in all you have to buy is a $30 cable
vs.
others you have to buy the stereo plus the $60 interface

thats the radio i got good deal imo

The head unit will bolt in physically . But you have to re-pin the stock 05-06 wires to the new style plugs . And the Antenna wire is different , so you would need to make that work too . 07 uses 1 single coaxial cable .

A word of caution buying a 07 head unit . Thought it looks like all the black tie radios , the Cobalt/G5 head units are specific both in wiring and the faceplate is curved slightly to match the Cobalt center stack . The Avalance/HHR ect ect head units will not fit in our dash , I have a 06 HHR head unit right now and it is too wide to fit the Cobalt radio bezel .

If u buy a 07 radio , heres part #'s for you so you know what your getting . This # will be on the identification sticker on the head unit .

6-disc w/MP3 , Silver face , GM pt# 15284733
single disc w/MP3 , Silver face , pt# 15284732

6-disc w MP3, Ebony face, GM pt# 22714658
single disc w/MP3 , Ebony face , pt#22714657

The part # for base 07 head unit is #22714656 , so avoid that one
