That wghole Hz and tuning boxes is still a grey area to me (car audio is just a hobby, not my profession) I have 2 DD 2512's running in a custom box (some fiberglass some wood) made into the spare tire well, what would you tune that box to. Heres a picture of it durring its creation stage

From what your saying the higher the freq the more of an SQL setup and the lower the freq the more of a SPL setup, is this a correct assumtion?

Generally speaking , your assumptions are not correct (in fact the opposite is closer to the truth). But there are a lot of variables that affect the note for SPL.

The 2500 series DD's are suitable for fairly low tuning. They are one of the brands we carry and most installs they seem to perform well around the 34 - 35Hz area. Now keep in mind I haven't done a lot of testing with the 2500 series as far as SPL since most customers are just looking for a hard hitting sub with good lows. We usually design SPL systems around the 9500 series that perform better at a higher note since they seem to have less control at lower notes.

For a 145.XX or higher with those subs (definitely achievable depending on power) you'll want to tune around the 35ish range and go from there as far as figuring out cab gain and other variables. At this note at least you'll still be able to listen to music without it sounding like crap.

So if I add into the mix that I have an Old School Rockford Fosgate power 1100a2 (the birth sheet on it said 1490@4ohms mono or 730x2 @ 2ohms) running in stereo, which I don't have all the way up, running at about 85% and the guy who built the box for me said he tuned it to 33Hz. Does this sound about right? Also given what I've told you what do you think I'm hittting db wise, just a rough ballpark, what I'm asking is do you think its hitting around that 140 mark or am I dreaming
