adding a battery?

okay, so if i wanted to add another battery to my balt so i dont run my stock one down how would i do that?
i mean doesnt the stock battery "recharge" so to speak, so if you add another one, how would it recharge?

p.s. i know that i can just get a yellowtop but im just going through all of the possibilities.

Use this calculator http://www.kinetikaudio.com/calc.asp

You'll need terminals for your old and new batteries and a relay to go between them. You run a remote wire from the ignition to the relay. When the car is off, the relay doesn't allow the extra battery to pull a charge. When it is on, it lets the battery charge. That way it doesn't run down your starter battery.

Look for a battery isolator if you're going to do this they usually arent over 20 bucks. It's hard to just find a relay that is going to be able to handle that much current.

My stock battery doesnt run down with my 10" L7 and ZX750.1 amp going full blast for 15 mins...you must be punching out insane power or something.

A battery isolator is what you want. Get one and you'll still be able to start your car even after the one for the stereo system goes dead.

Plus it makes your alternator's job a little easier. Without an isolator, one battery will constantly drain the other until peak voltage is equal between the two. That rarely happens.

I think you should get a Kinetic 1400 (or similar) and a high current relay, like the Stinger SR200 (~$50). That way you will never touch your starting battery and the relay keeps the second battery from touching your starter battery when the car is off.

britt if that's all you are looking at using power wise a single yellow top or if you can afford it a kinetic will be plenty. There's really no need to waste money trying to put another battery in. Good deep cycle and you should be fine.
