AEM AFR gauge

How do I wire up my wideband gauge so that my hpt picks it up? I have it already on the downpipe and I have the red wire to the fuse and black on a ground. I didnt know what to do with the white and blue wire it has so I assume those are the ones I need to wire so that my hpt can pick up the info.

If you have hpt pro, simply take the white wire and connect it to one of the aux inputs on the interface and make a custom pid for it. If you have hpt standard then you need to connect the white wire to your return wire from the ac pressure switch feeding into the ecm. It's a bit more complicated and requires cutting/spicing wires. If you feel comfortable with doing this then let me know and I can explain a little bit more.

I see. I have hpt pro. With the whole white wire thing where would i get more of it? The wire it has now is really short and wont be able to reach the hpt. Also which aux input would I put it to?

sad part was I wasnt trolling >.< lol I actually was asking where to get that type of wire. I dont know if all wires are the same or not. Also the only "electrical wire" ive seen only comes in a spool so I wouldnt want to buy that just for a small part that im going to use. Maybe you guys know of a place to get small amounts of wire? Also where to connect it to lol

You can get small prepackaged bundles at like radioshak or autozone. Just get a few feet of 16 gauge stranded or solid core wire (doesnt matter which) in 2 different colors (1 color for your 5v reference, and the other for your ground), and pipe it into the interface.

Your 5volt reference is the white wire from your Eugo btw. Your manual should have all the voltage info in there for you as well.

According to the manual, white goes to the HPT and do absolutely nothing with blue. Blue is for a different type of interface.

Yea, I'm pretty sure the HPT grounds when it is all plugged up, completing the circuit for the wideband.

Here ya go:

Let me google that for you

Definitely do NOT ground the blue wire. It's there for connecting to a serial port input, which you will not be using.

I could have sworn that it needed a seperate ground, but i could be wrong.

ok so I know this thread is a little old but I just havent gotten the time to install this. I'm about to do it right now and just had one more question. I have my 12v connected to my fog lights because for some reason when I used the cig lighter the gauge never turned off even when there wasnt a key in the car. Same thing with wipers. I read a little more and I have to ground something from the hpt to the cig lighter but was just wondering where do I ground this to since I'm not using the cig lighter as the main source to my gauge? Also how would i ground it I dont really get that part....the actual gauge is grounded to one of the bolts from my struts so idk if I would just run the wire from the hpt and ground it to a chasis bolt? Thanks for your help guys I promise this is the last questions I have about it!

so I found this. Is this correct? Or am I supposed to wire the ground from the HPT interface connector onto a bolt or something? that was basically my main question
