yup... but its needed to keep onstar.
Onstar is normally transmitted thru the factory speakers with the foactory deck. but this is somehow built into the deck so when you remove it sound is unable to reach the speakers and onstar is useless. The gmlanos has a chip to replace all that nonsense going on in the stock deck and a speaker box thing to allow you to hear all that lost information from the onstar unit.

ya, this local shop that my team was sponsored by tried tellin me i needed that harness bc of the chimes. i told them no i didn't, and they kept buggin me to get it, n i told them to **** off. i went to crutchfield and, the 10 dollar harness worked. lol. stupid grimy shop people. the funny thing is that they have done lots of custom work for name people and it just goes to show u how respectable they are. lol.

well i know a lil behind that from working at an audio shop. Since neither aftermarket or auto manufactures are going to be easy and keep **** all the damn same theres so many differerent combos of **** its impossible to keep up. So all they do to see what "harness u need" is look in a book. If the book says gmlan then they will fight forever that thats what you need. Until they try it using the cheap one (which they never will) they arent going to know better

they looked it up on a computer. n i said i know for a fact there's an expensive one, but i don't need it because i don't have onstar. then they kept fighting with me. so i just said whatever. all they do is overcharge people 24/7. they were charging 1 kicker L5 12" for 545 bucks. ya right. I bought both of mine in the box for 200 brand new. lmao. but i did get them off of a friend.

i have a question. i bought a after market radio. i tried hooking it up with the simple wire harness. where do you connect the red wire that came in the package. That will give it power! i am really stumped
