if your doing just a alarm with keyless entry you dont need a bypass module. the bypass is only for the passkey when hooking up a remote start. the factory alarm only arms and disarms through the factory remote. also do you have a wiring diagram for the car yet.

are you sure because when you lock the door using the electric locks and open it without the factory remote the arm goes off

If you want the Alarm as well run the Horn output to the door triggers and use the Factory alarm + whatever Aftermarket Alarm you want.

You will need some type of module if the 07 is the same as the 05. I know my factory alarm comes on 30 seconds after the doors are locked and cannot be turned off with anything other than the factory remote. You need a module to communicate with the BCM and turn off the Factory alarm.

I think I used the INT-SL from ifar to do my alarm by-pass, but the CAN-SL2 should work too... Personally I don't see much need for an aftermarket alarm, our alarms are quite good. The only thing I added was an infra-sonic sensor in case they smashed my windows, and thats only because I had the Auto-Start in already...

Also don't attempt it if you haven't done it before... You can start to damage things if you start wiring things up incorrectly and that gets expensive really fast. Its really important on cobalts where you are taping into the BCM lines to do the alarm/starter.
so i guess i need some type of bypass?

bump someones gotta know what i need to do

The most modern way would be to use an interface like the one suggested above, or I'm a DEI fan and and installer at Best Buy, so it would be the XpressKit XK01 I believe...

What and interface does is it communicates with the BCM directly over the CAN bus. The traditional way to interface the locks/door tiggers/etc. is to find those specific wires and tap them. With an interface, there is no need for this. The interface taps a single data wire (usually violet on the OBDII connector) and the interface is programmed to send all of these signals.

Personally, I don't use interfaces. To me there is more room for failure and future issues, so I don't touch them unless it's absolutely necessary. If you do use the xpresskit, DO NOT use the D2D connector. Always use wire to wire. So in the case of NOT using an interface, typically on GM's, there is no need to find a disarm wire. You are not ever going to use the factory remote again, so just make sure the last button you ever hit on it is unlock and you're done with it.

Good luck man...lemme know if you have any other questions...

If you are doing just an alarm then you could use the XK01, if you are doing a remote start, then just use a DLPK. However if it is just an alarm you really don't need a bypass module. Our locks are at the BCM so all you need is a relay since it is a one wire set-up, and as far as the factory alarm I have never heard of it being armed from an aftermarket system, well not on GMs anyway.
