alarming problem with 05 cobalt ss

2005 Cobalt SS, Aftermarket Radio, (NZ 500 Clarion with dvd, sirius, gps, etc, etc.)
Question#1) does the factory alarm system and the information reset system need the factory
radio to work properly ?
Question #2) The alarm resets every time you exit the car, shut the doors and doesn't need the doors locked ( there is approx. a 30 sec. time span before it resets itself)

I am unable to access the information system to change the settings . The trip odometers can be reset, but changing the km. to miles, and other info cannot be accessed with the reset button to change.
Please Note; I bought this car used from a salvage yard, with damage to the front end. The air bags had been set off, so i had to replace the L & R seat belts, both front air bags, air bag module and the front impact sensor on the rad cradle.` thanks

the factory radio needs to be plugged in to change the settings for the door locks and other misc settings. I know the 05 had a different radio, but I believe it is the same

ya no idea on the factory alarm. I know its not needed for the alarm to work but it may be needed to adjust settings on it.

One thing i would check is pull out the aftermarket unit and see how its wired. If by chance the radio is using the wrong harness and is messing with the GM LAN wire it could be causing issues. On my old car for a short period of tiem i had that issue but it only affected the speedo and such. So when i had the radio on the speedo rpm ect all went blank

Thanks guys, for the help and my apologies for being such an ass. I'm new to the whole thing. I guess to much old school. I'll try Emperorjj. He's helped me hooking up the radio (the clarion) .

The audio sound shop sold me the harness to plug directly to the cars wire harness, only the original radio had a 2nd plug.
What is the lan wire, and what is it's function?
Also I hooked into a pink wire at the factory amp, in order to use the cars system. It Has the pioneer sound package.

You know there is an adapter for cobalts that learns your security and all the little alarms. I had one on my old cobalt. I'll see if I can find a link.

Found it but won't work if you have Bose y91 apparently but:
