Did you have to cut out the back plastic part to install the headunit?

Co-Yellow-Balt, how does the car stand up to the system as far as rattling goes? My last car was a 2000 grand am and I had to sound deaden the trunk like crazy to stop the rattles (especially for the outside). Right now I have my system sitting around waiting to be put into my Cobalt but Im just a little lazy Im also wondering how well the Cobalts electrical system will be able to handle 1500-1700 watts as a daily driver

The interior seems like it can withstand rattles better than most cars but the 1500-1700 watts is a little high for the alternator. If you look at where the alternator is on the 2.0SC you can see it would be a lot of work to change to a high output one. You could try an Optima Yellowtop battery and a 2 farad capacitor. That would be much cheaper and easier to install and it won't be as hard on your electrical system.

The 2.2L L61 is equipped with a 115amp generator and the 2.0L LSJ a 135 amp....a true 1700 watt system would put a HUGE load on the electrical system of either car, especially, at night, with any other accesories, the coolant fans, wipers, etc, on.

Ohh I understand all those issues guys. Yes it really is a true 1500-1700 watt system. I have a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1, birthsheet has it benched at 1523 watts. I also have a US-Acoustics 2080 for my components which runs about 70-80 watts to each side in 3 ohm components.

I originally had the system in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM SE. To be completely honest with you, other than my windows not going up once in a blue moon and blown fuses every so often The car managed to go almost 4 years of constantly having a system in it. For the most part, I was running at least 1000-1700 watts as a daily driver. All I had upgraded in the car was the battery to a yellow top and I believe the alternator was only rated at around 115-130. I think I was pretty lucky that the alternator never died, but now with a new car, I begin to worry. What bass will do to your judgement

After the install did you lose the use of the pioneer sub in the trunk?
