Altenator help

Friend was helping me with the car and tightened down the stud on the alt. to tight breaking the recitifier itself. Went to get a new one at autozone, came in with the wrong plug, the pic was right and I already had the alt off, so they took it as a core, ordered in a second one, same plug. Went to orielys and they couldn't get the right one either. Only way is to pay 600 through gm lol. Question is I can buy the plug from either of the places above to switch it to the right plug. Is this an ok thing to do for those that know electrical? I am worried about the regulator being different maybe and not working right.

Not sure if you can swap it but if you are getting a acdelco order it through rock auto. It's a lot cheaper

Ended up looking up other gm models with the lnf and found the solstice also had the same alternator. Got one coming for 200 bucks through napa. Valeo remanufactured.
