Alternator ground wire

Long story short, I managed to rip the ring terminal off the alternator ground wire tightening it down. I replaced it with one that is way to small and I feel that it may not be doing the job. I was wondering if anybody had any info as to where to get a proper sized terminal. Thanks for the help.

Check your local car audio shop, they should have ring terminals up to 0ga.

Alright, got a new terminal on it, but that wasn't the problem.

the top piece of the alternator with the ground screw sticking out of it actually wiggles, and when you move it, you can hear the car change from running crappy to good or vise versa. any insight as to how to correct the problem?

No, the terminal is plenty thick, the screw barely fits on.

the screw actually turns, and there is a little circular piece it sticks out of that actually moves around a little bit.

sounds like its stipped then. you can try taking the car to a hardware store and removing the bolt and buying a new one possibly slightly longer or shorter whatever you need. they should also have different copper ring terminals with different sized holes if the terminal you have has too big of a hole. lastly you can try moving the wire to one of the bolts that botls the alt to the engine. probably not as good of a ground normally but if its fucked now then it will work better
