Amp Cutting Out

I have an Alpine MRX-M1000 amp powering an Alpine SWX-1243D subwoofer. At high volume, my amp cuts out, but doesn't turn off. Could it be that my battery isn't strong enough and should I get a Kinetik battery?

if the amp cuts out but doesnt turn off then generally thats a sub issue if it was on the power side it would turn off

"At high volume, my amp cuts out"
my guess is the battery. get a bigger CCA batter and a bigger alternator to keep up. the stock wont cut it. if it was a subwoofer issue your amps fuse would have popped and the subwoofer wouldnt work at all. the amp might also be going into termal protect. as soon as it cuts out go feel the amp if its hot to the touch this couldbe the issue also.

thats all on the assumption the amp actually doesnt turns off. in that situation id normally say check voltage and all but id look into sub/sub wiring first then go check voltage/ power wiring

make sure its wired for the correct ohms and not overloading the amp.

run stereo at high volume and watch amp for thermo protection to come on with sub connected and do it again with sub disconnected, that will tell you if your sub is causing issue

i dont know an amp will even get warm with out a subwoofer on it. it needs the output load to compleat that circuit. im almost positive its not the subs unless hes running it at 1ohm or 2 ohm bridge. that will mess stuff up.

try turning your gain down by turning the knob on the amp to a higher voltage. ie from .2v to .4v. though the you bass will sound a little quieter it might help this issue out. try this first before anything else.

Sub'd for the solution. My amp has very similar issues since two days. I have the Alpine PDX-5 and it cuts out at higher volumes with much bass, and also when I hit a bump in the road. If I hit the amp with my fist, it also cuts out for 2-3 seconds... I installed it brand new 2 years ago and up till now it has worked flawlessly...I'm stumped.

Sorry to thread jack but I ave the same issue except my amp shuts completely at higher volumes, and its not heating up at all...Not sure what the solution would be.

that sounds like a broken amp and voltage issues. probably broke bc of voltage issues. check ur connections to make sure they are tight and maybe check the subs too see if they are ok but if not any of that then its the amp

fml! I'll check all connections today but if that's true I'll be pissed. This is a $600 amp that's barely 2 years old. Ugh...

Yes!!! Posted this on the caraudio.com forum and found the issue! Turns out my remote wire was not tightened down on the amp side. I could give it a half turn and it seems to work fine now. Regardless thanks for everyone offering their opinions! I'm happy
