attention: people with music systems

today i was bumping my system to work and everything was all good. until later when i left that everything was power-less. i mean everything nothing turned on and so then i jumped it and it was all cool. then i brought my car into the washer to clean her all up and then was gunna leave and bam happened again...no power. so obviously my battery was gone, so attention to anyone pushing 800+ watts, dont think your gunna be set to go without any extras... either get a better battery or capacitor cuz you will kill your battery. so i hit up autozone and purchased a optima red top for $109. and nothings wrong at all...no flickering headlights or nothing.

until then have fun and lets dance with the lock

800 watts isn't going to kill a battery.

Sounds more like something isn't installed right.

you should always get a capacitor no matter how powerful the system you have is. Without a capacitor you are not getting all of your power that you should be getting.

sounds more like the amp isn't grounded well...with an improper ground you will have the same effect as having the amp on at all time, creating a "leak" in a sense....remove the ground, sand it down well with sand paper (the area you are grounding to, that is - no paint or anything between the frame and ground cable), and tighten it down again...see if that helps

Getting a better battery or Cap will not fix the problem, it will only help...

If the alternator is making less power at MAX duty than you are consuming with the extra stuff, the power will be taken from the cell.

My Solution is turn it down about 2 min before you plan to shut off the car.

I've been pushing 2000 peak for months no problems, had hardcore headlight dimming till I bought a 1.5 farad cap and now no problems and harder hits.

When I installed my system (only 400 watts rms), I could not find a remote wire. My amp would be on 24/7. This would leave me no choice but to wire in an on/off switch, which by the way, I like much more.

Ya there is no ignition source in the stock harness, I just cut one of my cigarette lighter plugs and ran a switch for the head unit and amp similiar to how you did, that way you can leave it on when ignition is off, lot more easier.

I had best buy install a remote line for like 20 bucks, I'm not sure how they rigged it up, but it works great for my system!!!
