Battery question/opinion
Hi,
I have 2 kinetik batteries in my cobalt. I have a HC1200 in the stock location in the trunk and an HC1800 wired in parallel. They are a couple years old and it seems they might be losing their kick, I was thinkin of a single battery solution and puttin it up where my hc1800 is. Maybe because they are different capacitys? A single battery solution like a HC2400 or a D3100, I can put it up where the HC1800 is in my trunk. I'm not running that much power maybe 2KRMS T20001bd wired to 2 ohms and a t600-4 in stereo. DO you think that one battery is better than having 2? I know it would be simpler for me just to have one. Opions please
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. So I think I am going to get just one d3100 and replace the t20001bd with a kicker zx2500.1 and remove my 10 farad hybrid cap which I really dont think is making any difference.
Thanks
Thanks

not sure the stock system can "drop hard bass" but with the battery in the truck alt to battery and alt chassis upgrades dont do much... not saying its not worth doing for some of the bigger systems but its not like a honda night and day difference
battery ground upgrade is a must thou

Thank you for your responses. I have a d3100 coming today. Ditching the cap, Ditching the 2 kinetiks for the d3100. I have already upgraded my electrical a while ago. I have a 250 amp DC power alt, 1/0 from alt to batteries in the trunk, 1/0 from engine block to chassis, and 1/0 ground wire. even running that t20001bd at 2 ohms at full tilt I can drop the voltage with the engine running down to 11 volts. Should I ground the subwoofer amp and the battery seperatley? I had some whine in my highs but I seprately grounded my t600-4 and it helped alot. I was going to go over my electrical tonight, I had a few things in mind, Clean the chassis to ground 1/0 connection, I looked at it last night and I can see some corrosion, I guess from the road salt and such. Resolder a new connector on the 1/0 cable connected to the alt. One thing that I might consider is upgrade the wire from the alt to the fusebox it is still the stock wire. Is that wire worth upgrading? Also I was going to attach another ground wire to one of the mouting bolts on the alternator and also connect that to the chassis. From the voltage drop I am getting I have some resistance somewhere.
Thanks
Thanks

The D3100 solved my voltage problems. Headlights only dim when I really push the amp, but then they only dim slightly. I still have the work to do with the connectors under the hood. I will probally do that this weekend. I have not checked my voltage drop but I could imagine it is far less than before. I probally gained a db with the new battery.

I will try to post some this weekend. I have been so busy at work. I have it by the left rear wheel well. There is nothing holding it down but the weight of it seems to keep it in place. I dont know how I would even secure it in place. but if it really doesnt move im not going to worry about it
