there is to brackets right behind the seats under the carpet. the brackets have huge bolts in them, they look like a good spot to ground my amp on. Has anyone else tried this spot for grounding yet?
Also do all amps have protection mode? I just bought this alpine amp and it doesn't say anywhere in the manual that it has protection mode.

 

I know what your talking about.. Looks like it would work. Can't you just ground it in the trunk near or with the battery

 

well i would rather have my amp have its own grounding post. plus the amp is mounted near my seat so that would be the closes grounding point. but i'm not sure what that bracket is being used for? if it's connected to the gas tank is that safe to ground to?

 

just use the bolt for the back seat. i mean if your gonna mount the amp on the back seat. it would require the shortest amount of wire.

if you pull out the trunk mat, (climing in through the back seat) their are 2 bolts with mounts, (the mounts are black) either of the bolts will work. they are both grounded. if that doesnt help i can get pictures up tomorrow. and look on the net to see if your amp has a protection on it. most amps do but then again.

theres one bolt on one side of the trunk and another bolt on the other side of the trunk holding a black bracket in place... is that the one ur talking about?

 

are you sure the bolts in the black brackets are for the rear seats?

 

I always used the seatbelt bolt under the rear seat on my Cavaliers. I haven't taken the back apart on my cobalt yet though...

I would advise against using those bolts. That's where mine are now and there is not a very good ground connection there. My sub levels increase and decrease with my shifting using that bolt. In fact I found this thread by looking for a better place in my trunk to ground.

 

I have my amps grounded there right now (after moving them from another point in the trunk).... Since I moved them to the rear seat bolts i've picked up some engine noise in my speakers.. I need to get off my ass and relocate them to somewhere else.

 

ground it to the spot where the battery is grounded to
i mean physically where the negative for the battery comes from, ground it there as well
its gonna be the best ground in the car, obviously

 

I have mine grounded where Tiny said, on the battery ground. Your sure it'll work fine there.

 

i used the antenna bolt and have had no issues what so ever and it is close so little wiring

 

i also am using the battery ground, it works fine!
