Mount to the top of the box, that's where mine is and has been for three years. No problems come from it.

I made a mock up of the amp rack with cardboard, got it how I wanted it, then cut it out of plyscore. Next, I mounted the amps to it, cut the holes for the wiring, etc. Finally, I carpeted it and cut the carpet with a sheetrock knife where the holes are. It's secured by that one threaded rod with a nut on it that you see (and gravity). The stock box mount has slotted holes, so I put a piece of rod through with a nut on it, slid it into place, then tightened another nut from the front to keep it there. Same thing with the nuts by the amp rack, there is one behind it to keep the depth, and one in front to tighten the amp rack.

Switch what to much? If its on the box you just diconnect the wires and pull it all out or just unscrew the amp.

I also had my amp in my spare tire well in my Chrysler but in the cobalt there isnt enough room for it to sit right without taking out the spare tire.
