Can my 2 ohm rated Alpine amp handle a 1.5 ohm load?

nope love the amps.... but if you want to do a challange i bet i could make a T2 12 louder then a 9500 12. And i guarantee i can make a RE SR 10 louder and cleaner sounding then a 9500 on half the power

that means somthing is wrong. An amp doesnt shut off until say 10v and if your getting that low then something is off. Test the voltage at your batt make sure its at least 12.5 (any lower is a weak or gone battery) test voltage at the battery terminals (cobalt terminals are built very shitty and tend to be very loose giving u a bad connection) Test the ohm difference between the batt ground any your amp ground at the amp ground location (if u didnt ground to the bat) and at the amp. if the resistance is high then u need to fix it
My electrical system could definitely benefit from a few upgrades (0 gauge, yellow top, possibly rewinding the alternator). However, everything works fine while I'm driving, so I'm going to keep everything as is until I can afford to spend some cash.

reguardless an amp should never really turn off when the car is on. Just do those simple tests and see whats up. A mulitmeter is anywhere from 3 to 10 bucks and honestly if you have say a bad ground or what not then spending mad cash replacing the batt alt ect ect isnt going to do you any good.

Point taken. I'm still using the stock battery to chassis ground, so swapping that out for 0gauge would be a smart move. The alt to chassis ground is probably just as important.

is it important yes but as important not even close. The battery is far as hell away from the alt so lowering a bit of resistance up front isnt going to do that much. Where as making ur battery have a better ground helps its charging abilities. If your connections in the back are solid then there is no reason to really get below 12.5v or so (im sorta just guessing but 12.0 should NEVER happen in a cobalt with the engine running) because you would never get very far below your battery voltage. Batteries hold tons of current and are dead at 12v so with a working bat and alt along with solid connections ur amp shouldnt get close to turning off due to low voltage (thermal is still very possible)

My mids and tweets are 2 ohm Infinity Kappa's. Do you think that may have something to do with it shutting off? It's 2 ohm stable but it may be a little over stressed. It doesn't run long enough to get hot when I try playing my system in park.
