Cobra or Beltronics?

So I'm looking at radar detectors...which has a better reputation, Cobra or Beltronics? I'm leaning towards the Cobra XRS-9930, but the Beltronics Vector 955 or 965 aren't out of the question if they are incredibly better... BTW, I do a lot of city driving, but it is in the desert (Las Vegas/Henderson) so there are open spaces. So let's hear the opinions! Thanks guys!

It's more that I can get employee pricing where I work, so, why not? I work at Circuit City, so: http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/categ...8+20013098&c=1 << my choices. And I won't go with the Beltronics STI ($450)

I'd bet any radar detector worth $450 dollars is pretty damn good. I could probably get it for $350 but that's still a little bit out of my range.

Probably $380 now that I think about it...

I have a beltronics V940. It's a damn good radar. I did a little writeup about it on another forum i'm on if you care to read it.

Beltronics all the way.

I just bought the Escort Passport 8500 X50 a week ago & got it in my car. It works amazing. It starts beeping before I even see the cops. Originally about $340.00, I got it for about $280.00. Seriously, look into that one. It's good. Just like ReignftSoldier says.

Well, I just found that Escort for $280 shipped, so I think I'll drop the extra 80 and do that. After reading some other reviews it seems like it's worth it. Is there any site that you guys know of that'll teach me about the technical aspects behind radars and lasers? I don't have any clue about the different bands or anything...

I use physical proof...don't belive in reading websites.
I've had a rocky mountain"radar jammer", valentine, beltronics, cobra, passport, and a uniden. I tested every one of those on my friends trooper car radar. Believe it or not the valentine had the best warning and the beltronic was in a close 2nd. The rocky mountain sucks and of corse doesn't work well with jamming. Cobra is ok but gets to many false alarms. Passports are decent but for what you pay detection time could be a little better.

So websites and books do nothing for me so I test them myself. If you want to be sure about it get one you think is good and test it.
